Are you a movie aficionado/buff or just a casual movie goer? Either way... you have come to the right place if you are interested in world of cinema. =) Let us know if you have seen any good movies lately, what your favorite movies of all time are, or need help deciding what to put on your Netflix queue?

I guess I'll start things off by saying that I am not a huge movie buff, but I do like to put one on at night and just lay back and watch. Anything 80's related is always a positive as there were sooo many great movies made during that time - whether it be Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Die Hard or your more cheesy movies like Goonies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off... they are soo good.

Anyone else a fan of 80's movies or have a favorite movie period?

Another big 80's movies fan here!

I also love nice trilogies as Star Wars, Back to Future and Indiana Jones (Yeah, trilogies, I mean, for me there are no other than the originals) but also Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Ghostbusters, Gremlins,
Aliens,The Princess Bride, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Terminator, and so. And early 90's like Demolition Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pulp Fiction also, wich keeps the 80's spirit or that is what I think xD

I go to the cinema almost every weekend, and when I don't (because there's no new movies interesting enough), I run straight to the nearest video rental store and just grab some DVDs off there... ok, I guess I can be considered a movie fan now XD

Although I appreciate some of the movies you mentioned, I also tend to like many new movies, so I'm not making such a distinction on older or newer movies - I like them all!

I like a wide variety of movies, the same with music. So I like old movies and new movies. Even though the old ones don't necessarily go back to the 80's, since I wasn't born...^^

The only genre I really hate to watch is horror, hack'n'slay and stuff like that. I just can't win anything from watching those movies. Then I rather watch something funny or interesting. I even rather watch documentaries(always depending on the topic) than horro movies. God, I hate those things...^^

Has anyone seen the new Pirates of the Caribbean film? I might go see it this weekend, but I'd like some spoiler-free comments on whether it's safe to waste my money on it or if Johnny Depp is its only redeeming feature.

I would like to see it, too. My brother went and watched it yesterday, but I have no idea, how it is, since I had to work -.-

No idea, when I will be able to watch it. But when you have watched tell me, how it was...^^

I'm not much of a movie goer or watcher, but by far my greatest recommendation is "How to Train your Dragon". That may just be the fangirl in me, but I find it absolutely flawless. Perfect visuals, perfect score, an old plot that's been made breathtakingly new and an ending that punched me straight in the feelings AND MADE ME LOVE IT.

My only complaint was that the theater had no 3D available.

@Daisy
Although I can't seem to like the Pirates of the Caribbean series, yesterday I saw a movie critique on TV that told the new movie is different from the previous two - they said the "trilogy" sorta went downhill, but the fourth one has a tone similar to the first movie of the series, and that's why they liked it better. I think if you're a fan it should definitely be worth watching =D

Hey Daisy. I watched the new Pirates movie and personally I really liked it. I feel you'll only like it if your a fan of the series since my friends didn't really like it. It's definitely better than the 3rd movie in my opinion.

Well, you guys have convinced me to go and watch it! Now I just need to find the time to do that... maybe this upcoming weekend, if I'm lucky. The first film was my favourite, because it seemed more of a 'hey, let's do a pirates' film!' thing than a 'hey, let's make a pirates' film to rake in the quid!' like the second and the third. Hopefully I'll like it as much as I did the first.

I just watched Hangover 2. A GREAT movie! But I am suprised, that it is rated FSK 12, which means, you are allowed to wathc it alone, when you're twelve, here in Germany.

I think it should be at least FSK 16, since it shows some stuff, which twelve year-olds shouldn't see. At least the version I saw should have been like that. Maybe there are censored versions...

Have you guys watch it, yet? Are you going to? And what is it rated in your country?

Just watched Dragonball Evolution on TV and I can only say one thing about it: What a piece of sh*t (sorry for this choice of words, but it's true).

It is a shame, that this movie has Dragonball in the title. They hardly could have made it worse. It's nothing compared to the real series (manga and anime).

Saw the final HP movie the other day, and although, I have never read the books, I thought it was a OK movie and conclusion to the series.

My only real gripe is that the final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort was sort of anticlimactic... I guess, I just expected more "pizaz" from it i.e. bigger more uber awesome spells and what not. But I guess you can't expect Harry to know any of them and for the fact that the Elder Wand didn't belong to Voldemort is a reasonable excuse as some have pointed out to me. But still... I wanted more! :mad

Other than that, I am quite appreciative of the fact that the series "grew up" with its audience. It just didn't stay a little kids series as the books/movies came out, but evolved with the primary audience.
