Layout for released material needs work... With limited amounts of releases, current format can work. But if there are any substantial amount of releases, then trying to find different releases are going to become difficult to impossible. Tagging and having the releases be organized into tiered folder format (starting with artist/group, series, languages, etc) is a starting point. Obviously there's not enough content to test search function, but I think its important to start out with a system in place instead of trying to implement it after realizing that we need such things.

Interesting idea: allowing users to customize and share templates and themes for the website.

Another problem that I've found, the site is very unstable even with very very few members. The site often stops responding for no reason at all. Very worrysome. A solid reliable system is far more valuable then lots of unreliable systems, so this problem should probably tackled ASAP.

I probably shouldn't say this but faq and help should probably be filled out soon. Also I don't know if this is intentional or not, but clicking on faq or help topic redirects to a separate page. This is very unintuitive and clunky to use; it is very difficult to see various topics at once. It would probably be better to use WIKI style faq and help, where clicking on a faq or help topic area scrolls the page down to where the faq or help is written out.

I have another suggestion and I don't know if I have to create a new topic or not, so i put it here :p
Well,It's more a complain that a suggestion.
I've been reading in the online reader and it's a bit uncomfortable having to go to the top of the page manually after going to the next page. And it's a bit slow, when I press the button to pass the page it takes more or less 5 seconds to go to the next page.
I hope you can do something with this.

I noticed that the whole site is a bit slow, at least on my computer compared to other sites, but that could just be a local "problem". But it isn't really a problem.

But lately I can only see the "Popular Forums", but not the "General Discussion Forums", some times and other times I see the other ones, too.

Edit: I just noticed, that I can see all forums, when I change the language in the upper right corner from 日本語 to English.

So I only can't see the other forums, when it is set to 日本語. And when it is set to 日本語 I also can't see the topimage on the homepage.

Even though this is more for the bug alert forum.

@januxa
The reason why you need to scroll back to the top is that, when you click on the next page button, instead of loading a whole new url location, it just loads a new image inside the manga window - if you click the button and scroll down while the delay, you'll notice the page won't reload back from the top and will stay on the bottom (or where you've left it) even after the new image have been loaded.

As for why the delay exists, maybe it will only show the new page after it loads completely, but I'm unsure of it.

Thanks for your suggestions :). I've replied below ↓

Can you make an image to better explain your suggestion? :D

That would be neat :D.

That's because it's closed beta and we're still ironing out a lot of things and optimizing it still - but yeah, I agree.

Yeah, I still need to get around to doing that >.>;;

Anyone willing to help? :D

Yeah, we're going to get it go automatically to the top of the page. It's on the to do list :).

As for speed, we're not using the most expensive servers out there so it'll be a bit on the slow side until we get closer to open beta ^^;

Yeah, the member page is very laggy - we're working on that ^^;

This isn't a bug, but rather made that way. We know that a lot of Japanese people are kinda scared of sites with tons of English so we made it so that the forums are seperate by language (we'll have a mix feature sometime in the future) but for now - you only see what has been created in that language. I'll create some forums for the Japanese side a bit later :).

Thanks for helping out there :).

Yeah, the site gets updated here and there so it causes it to load slowly - go offline etc >.>;; sorry >< it's one of the bleh things about using a beta. (You should have seen alpha ^^;;; )

Until then yeah :D we'll keep working on the things here and there :).

Thanks for all your help everyone :).

Ah, I should also mention -

Series forums won't show - we have it made so that any series can get a forum. But as the site grows it would make the forum HUGE. So what we decided to do is, let unpopular forums stick in their series info pages, and the popular one be in the main forum area :).

This is an issue I noticed, which might be a problem to anyone with more than one series: when someone requests to translate or scanlate, I'm notified of it, but not of which series it applies for. It gets confusing.

One other thing I just noticed is that for the commenting in thread in forums are CPs given, but for creating a thread not.

Intended or bug?

I just received a scanlation notification, but since I auto-approved all requests (translation, scanlation, fanart), the approval link redirects instead to the site's main page. I wish it would have redirected me to the work in question, since it was already approved.

But still, it isn't normally a problem for me, as I really just have to check my series' main page, or "my page", to see what was added - except I can't see this scanlation anywhere. In fact, I didn't even know which series or which chapter it was for. I had to look into the scanlator's home to see it listed, good thing I knew who it was!... and when I clicked on it, it redirected me to the main page!

Does an scanlation need to be mod-approved as well as author-approved?

I have the same "problem" as Lady. I can't find the scanlation when I look on the manga site or under "Contributions"-->"Scanlations".

Even, if I click on the scanlation on the scanlators home, I am sent to the main page and it says: "Access denied."
Even though I am in the scanlator group, where the scanlation is.

hmmm ok guys I'm on it :D.

To answer your question, Lady. Yeah scanlations (the releases) needs to be checked before being released to the public as well.

Now, I am able to read the scanlation. But I am still wondering, why it shows the Australian, Japanese and German flag next to the title (only on the scanlators homepage), even though it is "only" in German.

This is just a general suggestion. There is no rush for this since it really isn't an issue. It would be very good to have a chat interface where we can talk to other members who are online. It really comes in handy. No rush :)

I just remembered that, when you choose your language or country, when you register, the languages and countries aren't in alphabetical order, so it is hard to find your country. So an alphabetical order of those lists would make it easier for people.

Maybe a notfication, if someone answered on a thread you made or a comment, you posted, would be nice. If it is possible. Because so far you always have to check everything(forums and comments), before you know, if someone answered.

Might I suggest a form for writers and artists can meet to collaborate on projects together, and to add Facebook intergration along with Twitter.

The first point is a great idea. And easily intergratable into the forum section. Just need to add something like a forum called Collaboration, or to make it more general (also for translators and scanlators) something like a wanted forum, where everyone can post, if they are looking for an artist, writer, translator or scanlator for their projects.

I don't really know about the Facebook integration, though, since I know that there are mostly some posts of friends on my facebook page, so nothing really for the world to see. But I guess, that everyone has to decide for themselves.

Another idea: I think it would be great, if you could add a link to your own website into your profile, or at least a space, where you can put the address.

May I also suggest features for publishers who are interested in usinng this site to distribute their manga (unless you are already considering it), and (this is off the top of my head) trivia question(s) on a random manga on the site.
I already thought of how it will work:
1. The Admin will ask the creator(s) to come up with a question about their manga.
2. The Admin will then post the question for users to try answer for coins (or some special reward). This will cause more people to want to read the manga to find the answer to the question.

Great ideas. Especially like the second one. It is probably meant to bring more popularity for new manga and artists, but then it should be the creator, who sends a request to the admin to post a question, not the other way around and of course the question should be something some what difficult, so that the people have to really read the manga and not only look over it to find the answer.

But the question is, if publishers will post works on this site and it kinda changes the idea, that the creators post their works themselves, but I guess that publishers can suggest the option to post on MR to the creators, so that their manga will get a broader audience and maybe published in other countries. But I guess, that is up to the publishers and definitely only going to work later on, when there are more artist and a bigger MR-community, since otherwise the publishers probably aren't going to be convinced to use the site. Moreover the offer would probably most affectiv to small publishers, since they are probably looking for an easy and cheap way to promote their manga to a bigger audience.
EDIT: If you guys plan to get publishers on the site, I think you should make a new group for them, so that the people won't wonder if they post a lot of different manga in a short amount of time. Or you should make it like you did with the scanlation groups, that the publisher can create a group for their company and then the artist sign up on MR and join that publisher goup, so that people know, which artist belongs to which publisher. But of course that all depends on if publishers want to work with the site and will definitely only work in a later state of MR.

I know I wrote a lot, but I hope it helps a bit and isn't complete b*llsh*t...^^

How about an image gallery for the manga authors? I have a lot of images from my comics which are not tied to any particular chapter, but which I'd like to showcase. I don't think the fanart gallery would be appropriate for that, it'd be like drawing fanart for myself... :P

I also second the button for a personal page.
