4. Noah's Ark
*Genesis 6 ~ 8
2: Honest people are idiots!
3: You said it! Only stupid people should have to work!
4: Strong people can do whatever they want!
6: Come over here with me, boy.
8: Get outta here, old man! No one wants to see you!
12: Who cares?
1: Violence, corruption, dishonesty, and adultery.
2: That's all I see in the world these days...
3: so I have to make sure I live an especially honest life.
4: I'm home!
5: Welcome home, father!
6: I'm home!
7: Welcome home, dear!
1: I'm home!
2: Welcome home, father!
5: Noah, you are an honest man,
6: and so I've decided...
7: Humans have fallen into the depths of depravity and corrupted the earth.
8: Therefore, I will destroy them all and recreate the world.
1: I will leave you, your wife, and your children behind. Have many children and restore the human race.
2: What?! B... but!
4: Go build a big ark out of gopher wood!
1: The ark will be 300 amot (135 meters) long, 50 amot (12.5 meters) wide, and 30 amot (13.5 meters) tall!
SFX: CRACK CRACK
3: What are you doing, children of Noah? Building a ship?
1: Who would build a ship in the middle of the land like this? They must have gone mad! Hahahaha!
2: Noah! I am going to create a massive flood.
3: Rain will fall for forty days and forty nights, washing all of the earth clean.
4: You will load one male and one female of each type of animal onto the ark.
5: All the animals whose hearts I've deemed as pure will come to you.
1: You will survive and become the grandfather of the new human race.
1: It's here!
2: Is everyone inside?
SFX: FSSSSH CRACKLE
1: Hieeeh! It's a huge downpour!
3: I've never seen anything like it!
4: Night's here, and it still hasn't stopped!
5: Is it morning now? I can't even tell! The sky's been dark the whole time... ahh! Hiieee!
6: Help me!
2: It's floating!
5: The water's here!
6: But what about the town? What about the others?
7: This is the LORD's will...
2: Forgive us!
1: This is the halfway point.
2: Twenty more days...
1: The rain finally stopped... but now a storm's coming.
4: It's alright!
5: We must have faith in the LORD. He will protect us!
1: Did the ship ride up on to something?
2: Th-that means...
3: the flood ended!
1: But the world is covered with water... we still can't go outside yet.
2: Some land should have resurfaced by now. Go and find it for us!
5: There was nowhere for us to dock?
6: wheeze wheeze
7: How about now? We're counting on you!
1: Ahh... the dove's back! And it brought an olive branch with it!
2: It must have found a plant on land somewhere!
3: It's time to go outside, everyone.
4: The new land is waiting for us!
1: Everyone, go off as you wish and propagate.
2: Look, dear!
3: A rainbow!
1: After the world was flooded, the earth's creatures left Noah's Ark on Mt. Ararat and repopulated the land. Soon, Noah's descendants multiplied, and the human race once more filled the earth.
1: About Noah's Ark
2: They say that Noah's Ark was waterproofed with asphalt.
3: Asphalt was often utilized in biblical times, along with oil, otherwise known as the "burning water that erupts from the earth."
5: Nowadays, we use it to pave our roads.
6: It was also used as an adhesive in the Jomon Period in Japan.
7: Clay dolls whose cracks had been mended with asphalt have been discovered.
8: (This is a clay doll from Aomori Prefecture that was recently designated as a national treasure.)
9: Research shows that myths about a great flood have existed in the Middle East and Mediterranean since long ago.
10: All 8 volumes!
11: Greek Mythology
12: Read it!
13: The flood episode in Greek Mythology is almost exactly the same as Noah's Ark, too...
1: But I thought the Middle East was arid, you may say...
2: Perhaps a long, long time ago, there actually was a great flood, which remained in the minds of people and eventually became a staple of myths and legends.
3: There really was a great flood! Look, there are traces of it here in the strata!
4: Noah's Ark may have actually existed, too.
5: Maybe scholars and explorers are currently searching for the truth surrounding the Noah's Ark story.
6: And about every twenty years, there's some news about traces of the ruins of a large ship found buried under Mt. Ararat, in Turkey...
7: I read stuff like that a lot in boy's life magazines when I was little...
8: So exciting!
9: For some reason, it never stops being an exciting story.
10: Mt. Ararat
